Suspect identified after 4-month-old boy left alone in car dies, South Carolina authorities say

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with the death of a 4-month-old infant who passed away Monday after being left unattended in a vehicle, according to Kingstree Police Chief Kimberly Marlow.

Armina Lavette Seal-Middleton, 52, from Salters, South Carolina, faces charges of homicide by child abuse. She was taken into custody at the Williamsburg County Detention Center.

Kingstree police were called to a Dollar General on Monday to support Williamsburg County EMS with a case involving an unresponsive baby found in a stationary car, as per a news release.

Williamsburg County Coroner Ivori Henryhand reported to News13 that the baby was pronounced dead after being transported to MUSC Health Black River Medical Center on Monday. The ongoing investigation has disclosed that Seal-Middleton had the child in her care at the time of the incident.

Kingstree police and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating. No other details were immediately available.
