In an electrifying Premier League match on Monday night, Liverpool narrowly defeated Newcastle United 3-2, with teenage newcomer Rio Ngumoha scoring a decisive goal in the 100th minute.

The 16-year-old’s stunning goal concluded a turbulent evening at St James’ Park, where Newcastle rallied from a two-goal deficit, only for Ngumoha to make a memorable impact with a fairytale ending.

And while the away end erupted, one man who enjoyed it just as much was former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.

Jamie Carragher, covering the match for Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, became an internet sensation when his animated reaction was shared by the broadcaster. Overcome with excitement, the Liverpool legend was seen running around the studio and even jumping in the air.

“Oh my god! Oh my god! Wow! You lucky, lucky Redmen,” he exclaimed. “What is going on?! Is this one of the greatest games in Premier League history?”

Carragher later reposted the clip to X himself, simply adding: “What a game.”

Even with all the excitement, Carragher maintained perspective. After the match, he acknowledged that Liverpool was fortunate to secure the victory.

“Tonight featured one of the worst displays by a team that won, and one of the best by a team that lost,” he remarked. “Liverpool will be thrilled with the win right now, but Eddie Howe’s squad put up an excellent performance.”

For Ngumoha, it was an unforgettable night, suggesting that Liverpool supporters might have just witnessed the emergence of their future star.
