CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Carter County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) apprehended a Stoney Creek resident on Thursday morning for allegedly sharing child sexual abuse content on social media.
A CCSO news release stated that investigators received two cyber tips in June 2025. These tips, provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, involved the suspected uploading of child sexual abuse materials.
Investigators reportedly identified the email address associated with the social media accounts and traced it to an Internet Protocol (IP) address.
Jeffrey Edwards, 49, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor after the IP address was traced back to him.
Edwards was transported to the Carter County Detention Center on Thursday morning, and the CCSO noted he is being detained without bond pending his arraignment, due to a previous criminal record.
“I am proud of the diligence of our investigators in tracking down and arresting those who commit crimes against children,” said Carter County Sheriff Mike Fraley in the release.
