JSO arrests final suspect in Dragon Arcade shooting

Trai’xon Smith is the final suspect in a shooting at the Dragon Arcade on Jacksonville’s Westside that happened Oct. 3, 2024.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in Florida has taken into custody the alleged shooter involved in a fatal incident at the Dragon Arcade on the city’s Westside in October 2024, as reported in a recent statement.

The arrest of Trai’xon Smith represents the fourth apprehension in connection with this case. Previously, 25-year-old Quraan Goodman, 27-year-old Petrios Britt, and 33-year-old Cheneta Duffy had been charged with felonies tied to the shooting. According to the JSO, Smith is identified as the shooter of the victim, Ronald Matthews. With Smith’s capture, all suspected individuals in the incident have now been detained.

Two others were also injured in the shooting.

Police documents report that on October 3, 2024, two masked individuals entered the arcade and opened fire, hitting Matthews and two other bystanders. Matthews succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The JSO states that the gunmen also sought to rob the arcade. Smith is now facing multiple legal charges, including second-degree murder, attempted murder, armed burglary, and both attempted and aggravated assault.
