In Savannah, Georgia, the dove hunting season is scheduled to kick off on September 6, as announced by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).

This annual event will continue until October 12, allowing hunters to target migratory doves across several phases. Hunting hours begin a half-hour before sunrise and end at sunset, with a daily limit of 15 doves per hunter.

The season will also include a second period from November 22 to 30 and a third from December 19 to January 31.

Kara Nitschke, a wildlife biologist with Georgia WRD, recommends that hunters use this chance to introduce newcomers to the sport. “Dove hunting offers a wonderful way to introduce children to hunting because it provides a relaxed, interactive, and thrilling environment,” she noted.

Dove hunting on public grounds can be done at Wildlife Management Areas and Voluntary Public Access locations. If you are considering hunting on private property, ensure the legality of the field using this guide to assist in compliance verification.
