British celebrity chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay shared on Instagram Saturday that he was diagnosed with skin cancer, which he got removed.

The well-known 58-year-old television host posted an image displaying a bandage on his face and neck, along with a photo showing stitches from just beneath his earlobe down to his neck.

“I am incredibly thankful for the remarkable team at The Skin Associates for their swift action in removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma,” Ramsay mentioned in the caption of his post. “Please remember to apply sunscreen this weekend.”

Ramsay joked that he did not get a facelift.

“I’d need a refund,” he wrote.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Basal cell carcinoma is a form of skin cancer that originates in the basal cells, which are responsible for generating new skin cells to replace those that die off. This cancer is typically found on skin areas exposed to the sun, such as the head and neck, and can appear as a slightly clear or brownish bump.

The Mayo Clinic states, “The majority of basal cell carcinomas are believed to result from prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight. Staying out of the sun and applying sunscreen may help in preventing basal cell carcinoma.”

Ramsay is famous for his starring roles in numerous cooking reality TV series such as “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Kitchen Nightmares,” and “MasterChef.” His newest series, “Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service,” debuted on Fox this May.

The Michelin-star chef also owns and operates over 80 restaurants around the world, including over 20 across the United States.
