I-95 southbound crash in St. Johns County leaves Jacksonville man injured

The vehicle rotated counterclockwise and overturned on its passenger side, causing the man to eject into the grass.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man from Jacksonville is recuperating from injuries sustained in an accident that led to a partial closure of I-95 in St. Johns County on Saturday night.

FHP says this happened just before 7:30 p.m. when the 40-year-old was driving in a van going southbound on I-95 in the left lane.

Authorities report that the driver oversteered to the left, resulting in him veering onto the left shoulder and colliding with a metal guardrail that separates the north and southbound traffic lanes with his front bumper.

The vehicle rotated counterclockwise and overturned on its passenger side, causing the man to eject into the grass of the left shoulder.

The van blocked the left lane and left shoulder facing north, causing traffic to be blocked for some time before eventually reopening.

The man is recovering from serious injuries.
