DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — One firefighter was hurt while battling a large fire in Danville on Sunday.

The Danville Fire Department reported that a fire completely destroyed a garage and a car inside it, while another garage suffered “significant damage” from the blaze that ignited at approximately 2:45 p.m. The incident occurred near the crossroads of E. Main Street and Kentucky Avenue.

Upon arriving, firefighters found one of the garages engulfed in flames, which collapsed just minutes later. The fire department noted that 12 firefighters were present at the scene and used roughly 2,000 gallons of water to put out the fire. One firefighter incurred minor injuries, but there were no other casualties.

The fire was successfully contained to the detached garages by the fire crews. Authorities are now examining the possible cause of the blaze, with the scene being cleared by around 5 p.m.
