A Democratic governor clashing with Donald Trump over crime policies has retreated to George Clooney’s estate in Italy amid their ongoing dispute.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and his wife Dawn are seeking refuge in the comforts of the Hollywood actor’s famous Lake Como villa.

The 46-year-old showcased his shirtless physique as he and Dawn soaked up the sun Monday afternoon from the deck of the movie star’s yacht.

A spokesperson from the White House told the News Media: ‘While Wes Moore is relaxing at Lake Como with members of the Democratic elite, Baltimore’s residents are still facing gun violence and crime.’

‘Maybe he should stay there, because he surely isn’t getting anything done in Annapolis.’

Although George and Amal Clooney left Italy following a brief visit to the Venice Film Festival, they’ve welcomed the Moores into their home.

The couple are said to have all the luxuries of the more than $100 million Villa Oleandra estate and its service staff at their full disposal.

Clooney reportedly favors Moore for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, having once described him as ‘a unifying candidate.’

The governor has escaped to Lake Como after he spent all last week feuding with Trump over his deployment of the National Guard into Washington DC to combat crime.

Trump threatened to send federal law enforcement to Baltimore and branded Maryland’s biggest city a ‘hell hole’ and a ‘horrible death bed’.

Moore admits more needs to be done to tackle skyrocketing crime in Baltimore, but has dismissed the idea of sending in the National Guard.

‘I would love more federal support, but federal support on things that actually make sense and not things that are performative,’ he said during an ABC interview that aired Sunday.

‘The National Guard is completely performative because the National Guard is not even trained for it.’

The Maryland governor previously described Trump’s attempt to fight inner city crime as ‘tone deaf’ and ‘ignorant.’

He further argued the FBI and local law enforcement would be better suited for the task than the military.

‘It’s because they have not walked our streets,’ Moore added. ‘They have not been in our communities, and they are more than happy to keep making these repeated tropes about us.’

Baltimore recorded more than 2,500 crimes in the 17 days that followed Trump’s deployment of the National Guard on DC, according to recent police statistics.

The city was plagued with a slew of violence including six homicides, nine rapes, 426 assaults and 271 aggravated assaults. There were also 252 auto thefts, 155 burglaries and 439 acts of vandalism

Moore did invite Trump to come walk the streets of the city with him, but the president responded by saying he might ‘send in the troops’ instead.

Trump said Moore’s invitation came in a ‘rather nasty and provocative tone’ and then raised the specter of repeating the National Guard deployment he made in Los Angeles despite objections from California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The president has also called out Moore’s admission that he lied about getting a Bronze Star for his military service on a fellowship application – which the governor has called ‘an honest mistake’.

From 1996 until 2014, Moore served in the Army Reserve where he was deployed to Afghanistan from August 2005 until March 2006.

The rising Democratic star obtained multiple service awards, including a National Defense Service Medal, but he incorrectly claimed on 2006 application for a White House fellowship that he was awarded a Bronze Star.

When news broke of the misdeed, Trump jumped on it by posting a link to an article from The Hill covering Moore’s apology.

‘But is that the end of his political career?’ Trump asked his followers on Truth Social. ‘He was very disrespectful to the Office of the President!’

Daily Mail has approached representatives for Moore and Clooney for comment.
