GSU Alum participates in MLB Futures Game

ATLANTA, Ga. — Hayden Harris, who previously played for Georgia Southern and the Savannah Bananas, has reached Major League Baseball for the first time, having been added to the Atlanta Braves’ major league roster on Tuesday.

Though Harris had been invited to Spring Training by the Braves outside of their standard roster before, he hadn’t secured a spot during a regular MLB season until now. In 2025, he participated in the Futures Game at Truist Park in Atlanta as part of the All-Star Weekend festivities.

Earlier in 2025, Harris played for the Columbus Clingstones, the Braves’ Double-A team, and the Gwinnett Stripers, their Triple-A team, prior to his promotion.

This season, Harris has achieved an impressive earned run average (ERA) of 0.36 over 39 appearances with both teams, recording six wins, four saves, and 73 strikeouts across 48 innings.

Harris, a Grovetown, Georgia native, played five seasons at Georgia Southern University from 2018-2022.

In 2021, Harris briefly joined the Savannah Bananas late in the season, making one regular-season appearance and excelling in the Coastal Plain League playoffs, contributing to the Bananas’ championship win.

Harris was originally signed to the Atlanta Braves on a minor league contract in 2022.
