Beloved professor vanishes during Labor Day walk as police intensify search efforts

Authorities are searching for a beloved college professor who vanished during a morning walk on Labor Day.

Northwestern University’s Professor Nina Kraus, aged 72, was reported missing on Monday, September 1. She was last observed departing from her home located on the 1500 block of Ashland Avenue in Evanston at approximately 9 a.m., as noted by the Evanston Police Department.

Kraus, who is a respected communications professor and renowned researcher in the field of auditory neuroscience, was dressed in a windbreaker and long pants. She was also carrying a dark-colored backpack when she left. Her description includes being roughly 5 feet 4 inches tall with long silver hair.

“The University is optimistic that with the aid of the community, we can locate Professor Kraus and ensure her safety,” the institution conveyed in a statement distributed via Northwestern Now.

A previous student remarked, “She’s an exceptional professor and researcher at Northwestern. I attended her class during my time as a student there. This situation is devastating.”
