Lana Murphy has given birth to her second child, a baby boy.

The 9News Melbourne journalist confirmed the exciting news on social media on Tuesday by sharing a gallery of precious baby photos.

One heartwarming photo featured Lana lovingly holding her newborn, giving him a soft kiss on the cheek. Another picture captured the moment Lana and her partner, Nick Riddle, were introducing their older son, Bowie, to his new baby brother.

Lana looked every inch the doting mother in the sweet gallery as she revealed her son’s very unique name in the caption.

‘He’s here. And he was so worth the wait. Soaking up every second with our boy; Navy,’ Lana wrote.

In July, it was reported that Lana was set to depart the network, one week after making headlines due to a shock on-air gaffe.

The presenter announced on Instagram that she would be taking maternity leave, just days after she amusingly forgot her script on a live report and improvised on the spot.

Lana posted a gallery of photos, one of which captured her showing off her growing baby bump while presenting the weather.

The journalist looked radiant in the photo as she announced she’d be taking time off to prepare for her second child.

‘Bumping the east coast out of shot while bumping out of my role at Nine News Melbourne for a few months, eek!’ she wrote.

Lana’s departure came after a memorable incident where she forgot her lines during a broadcast and had to improvise, which surprisingly made her even more popular with viewers.

She took to TikTok to own up to her mistake.

Lana shared a clip that showed her delivering a seemingly innocuous report about school holiday activities in Melbourne.

However, the segment quickly derailed when Lana clearly forgot her script.

It seems her ad-libbing abilities may need some work, with the reporter uttering a string of unintelligible filler words.

‘We will have a full list of all the possible school holiday activities and…’ she said, before pausing briefly in an attempt to remember her lines.

‘Dib-a-dib-a-dib-a-dib-a-doo’ was all Lana could muster before finally getting back on track.

The segment then cut back to presenter Brett McLeod in the studio, who appeared at a loss to explain Lana’s bizarre gaffe.

Reflecting on the humorous side of her mistake, Lana humorously captioned her video with: ‘I wish I could say this was the first time my real personality broadcasted live.’

‘I promise I’m normally a serious, professional journalist,’ she added.
