The FA has kicked off the grassroots football season with an engaging short film highlighting the unsung heroes who keep the game alive away from the bright lights.

Instead of spotlighting professional football, this film introduces four relatable grassroots figures: The Organiser (Sandra), The Ringer (Nick), The Coaching Parent (Rashida), and The Groundskeeper (Greg). It showcases their transition from daily routines to the delightful chaos of matchday.

From carefully manicured pitches to nervy last-minute penalties, it captures the humour, stress and joy that only grassroots football can provide.

Adding an element of surprise, the film features guest appearances. Lionesses and Newcastle midfielder Jordan Nobbs dazzles a group of youngsters with her skills, while Hashtag United’s PK Humble celebrates inventively after assisting a goal.

It concludes with the grassroots characters standing with pride on their respective fields, paired with a sincere message of gratitude to the volunteers, families, and players who sustain local football.

Jordan Nobbs expressed: “Participating in this film brings back memories of my start in grassroots clubs where I learned essential skills. It emphasizes the essence of creating inclusive environments where anyone can develop a passion for football and feel part of a team.”

James Kendall, The FA’s Director of Football Development, stated: “The heart of grassroots football is its people — the volunteers, groundskeepers, coaches, and players. This film honors the relentless dedication of clubs and volunteers nationwide as we celebrate the start of the 25/26 season.”
