A man from Florida is facing several serious charges after he fired shots at a woman and her companion who mistakenly approached his house over the weekend.

According to police, Roman Rawicki, 41, believed the woman, referred to as TP in the report, to be a prostitute and feared for the safety of his wife, as reported by WFTV.

TP explained to police that she was following a friend to their home and accidentally stopped at Rawicki’s residence. As she neared his driveway, Rawicki allegedly attacked her, twisting her arm and holding her against her will. She called for her friend, WP, who came to assist. Rawicki then reportedly shoved TP to the ground, went inside, and returned with a gun.

As TP and WP hurried back to their car, Rawicki began shooting, striking the vehicle multiple times, causing bullet holes and a flat tire.

Investigators said they recovered 17 shell casings in the roadway outside the home.

TP sustained bruises to her wrist and arm and a bracelet was broken.

Despite Rawicki’s claim, after being read his rights, that he was protecting his family, police stated that security footage showed TP approaching without any threatening behavior.

Rawicki called 911 after the altercation and admitted to being the shooter, mentioning that his property had a “no soliciting” sign. He acknowledged that TP had come to his home unintentionally. However, in Florida, such a sign does not justify using violence against visitors who approach a residence.

Rawicki has been charged with attempted murder, false imprisonment, criminal mischief over $1,000, discharging a firearm on residential property, and battery.

He was released after posting a $160,000 bond.
