Crystal Palace’s newest acquisition, Christantus Uche, and Borussia Dortmund’s Fabio Silva have both shared strikingly similar farewell notes to their previous clubs.

Silva, 23, spent five years at Wolves but made only 72 appearances after signing from Porto in a £35m deal back in 2020.

Despite being highly anticipated, Silva didn’t quite match his price tag expectations, managing to score only five goals during his stint at Molineux. His journey included loan spells at Anderlecht, PSV, Rangers, and Las Palmas.

Silva, on finalizing his move, shared what appeared to be an emotional goodbye on his Instagram, saying: ‘Arriving at Wolves, I was filled with ambition, dreams, and a determination to make a significant impression. I recognize that I didn’t meet those expectations.

‘Yet, football and life offer more than just statistics or field moments. During my period here, I’ve developed, learned, and above all, realized the essence of family. Wolves provided me that sense. From the start, everyone at the club ensured I had unwavering support. They created an environment for success, where I felt secure and at home, and for that, I will always be grateful.

‘I extend my thanks to all the coaches who guided me, the teammates who stood by me, and every staff member working tirelessly behind the scenes: thank you. Your kindness, professionalism, and belief in me remain unforgettable. I’ve forged friendships here that will last a lifetime.

‘Life’s lessons have taught me to never surrender, to strive even harder when challenges arise. I endeavored to uphold that ethos, maintaining my chase for happiness and well-being, even when the path was difficult. I depart with mixed emotions but with pride, knowing I gave my all and never ceased to try.

‘Now it’s time for a new chapter, but I won’t forget where I’ve been. I’ll always be another supporter of this club.

‘Thank you @wolves. From the bottom of my heart’

However just days later, fans spotted Crystal Palace’s new forward Christantus Uche had posted an identical message on his page.

The Nigerian agreed a season-long loan move to the Eagles from Getafe in LaLiga, where he had been a regular during his sole season at the club.

But in his farewell message, just as Silva had, Uche apologised ‘for not coming close to meeting expectations’, something fans questioned given in just one year he’s earned himself a move to the Premier League.

One fan wrote on X: ‘Uche apologizing for not meeting expectations makes absolutely no sense though lol.’

While other supporters expressed their bemusement at the fact the two players ‘couldn’t be bothered’ to think of their own messages.

‘Nah that’s actually disgusting, fella can’t be a***d to write a goodbye message for club he’s been at 4/5 years,’ one posted.

‘Surely none of us thought they were his own words,’ another wrote.

‘”AI please write me a farewell post”‘, one more joked.

And another fan posted: ‘Knew it wasn’t him who wrote it in the first place, he never wanted to be here.’
