Two members of the Marquette men’s lacrosse team tragically lost their lives in a car accident on Friday night in the vicinity of the university’s campus in downtown Milwaukee.

Marquette officials confirmed that Scott Michaud and Noah Snyder died in the crash. A Mass was held in honor of them Saturday.

“Please keep Noah and Scott’s parents, siblings, families, and the Marquette Athletics and college communities in your thoughts and prayers,” stated university President Kimo Ah Yun on social media. “Noah and Scott were taken from us too soon, and we share the profound heartbreak of their teammates, coaches, and all who knew them personally.”

Noah Michaud, a 19-year-old sophomore goalkeeper studying biomedical sciences, hailed from Springboro, Ohio. Scott Snyder, a 20-year-old sophomore attackman enrolled in the College of Business Administration, came to Marquette from Irving, New York, after attending Westtown School in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

According to Milwaukee police, a 41-year-old driver crashed into another vehicle carrying six individuals at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday. Marquette representatives confirmed that all six passengers in the second vehicle were members of the lacrosse team.

Authorities verified that the 19-year-old and 20-year-old passengers were declared dead at the accident site. Marquette later identified these individuals as Michaud and Snyder.

The remaining four passengers received immediate medical care on the scene and were further treated at local hospitals for injuries not deemed life-threatening, police reported.

Police said an investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office. The police report didn’t name the 41-year-old driver, who was taken into custody.

Ah Yun noted that Michaud and Snyder had both been named to the Big East’s all-academic team last year for maintaining grade-point averages of at least 3.0. Snyder played in 13 of Marquette’s 14 games last season, making three starts in the midfield and collecting nine goals and seven assists.
