Google’s Gemini app now accepts audio files, and Search expands to five new languages.

On Monday, Google introduced significant enhancements to its products powered by Gemini, including the Gemini app now supporting audio files, the addition of five languages to Search’s capabilities, and NotebookLM’s ability to generate reports like blog entries, study materials, quizzes, and more.

Josh Woodward, vice president of Google Labs and Gemini, noted in a post on X that enabling audio files was the most requested feature for the Gemini app.

Standard Gemini users can upload audio clips limited to 10 minutes and use five prompts daily for free. Those with AI Pro or AI Ultra subscriptions, however, can upload audio files up to three hours long. Users can incorporate up to 10 files per prompt, supporting multiple formats, including those within ZIP files.

Moreover, Google’s AI Mode in Search has expanded to support five additional languages: Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese. This expansion, due to the integration of Gemini 2.5, enables users to ask intricate questions in their native language and delve further into web exploration.

The NotebookLM, powered by Gemini, has also been updated to produce reports in over 80 languages, drawing from user-uploaded documents, files, and more.

(Although the Gemini app is newly offering audio capabilities, NotebookLM had already included this feature, establishing itself as a valuable research asset for identifying patterns across diverse file formats.)

The standard report formats include study guides, briefing docs, and blog posts. Flashcards and quizzes are also included in the latest NotebookLM update. Users can choose the self-created format and adjust the structure, tone, and style of the report. The feature “should be 100%” available by the end of this week, according to a company comment to a post on X.
