More than half of voters disapprove of Trump's handling of Epstein files: Poll

() Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released President Donald Trump’s alleged entry in the Jeffrey Epstein 50th birthday book on Monday.

“We got Trump’s birthday note to Jeffrey Epstein that the President said doesn’t exist,” read a post on the Oversight Dems’ X account.

“Trump talks about a ‘wonderful secret’ the two of them shared. What is he hiding? Release the files!”

Attached in the X post is a drawing of what appears to be a torso. It reads:

Voice Over:

There must be more to life than having everything

Donald

Yes, there is but I won’t tell you what it is.

Jeffrey

Nor will I, since I also know what it is.

Donald

We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.

Jeffrey

Yes, we do, come to think of it.

Donald

Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?

Jeffrey

As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you

Donald

A pal is a wonderful thing.  Happy Birthday—and may every day be another wonderful secret.

Donald J. Trump

Trump team: ‘It’s not his signature’

Trump has consistently denied being the author of the letter ever since it was discussed in July, and he also claims he didn’t create the doodle. His team strongly opposed the letter’s release on Monday.

“As I have consistently stated, it’s quite obvious that President Trump neither drew this image nor signed it,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt tweeted on X.

“President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation. … This is FAKE NEWS to perpetuate the Democrat Epstein Hoax!”

Deputy White House Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich labeled the image as “defamation,” noting on X that the signature does not align with the president’s authentic signature.

What Epstein files has Congress subpoenaed?

Republicans from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee issued a subpoena to the Epstein estate seeking numerous confidential documents. This includes anything akin to a client list and Epstein’s “birthday book,” a 2003 compilation put together by his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, which reportedly contained the letter allegedly written by Trump during his time as a private citizen in New York.

Those materials are slated for delivery to Capitol Hill by Sept. 8.

News outlet sued after reporting on Epstein birthday doodle

The Wall Street Journal report from July was the initial source to detail the message, describing it as “bawdy.” Trump contested the report and proceeded to file a libel lawsuit against the publication.

Leavitt said Monday that Trump’s legal team would continue to “aggressively pursue litigation” against the Wall Street Journal.

“I have never drawn a picture in my life. I don’t sketch images of women,” he stated to the Wall Street Journal in July. “Those aren’t my words. That’s not my language.”

The lawsuit against the newspaper stated, “Defendants concocted this story to malign President Trump’s character and integrity and deceptively portray him in a false light.”

The suit names the two reporters, The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, News Corp and Rupert Murdoch, who controls the company, as defendants. It also names News Corp’s CEO, Robert Thomson.

“This lawsuit is filed not only on behalf of your favorite President, ME, but also in order to continue standing up for ALL Americans who will no longer tolerate the abusive wrongdoings of the Fake News Media,” Trump wrote on Truth Social when the lawsuit was filed in July.
