10 missing children recovered in Cleveland

CLEVELAND (WJW) U.S. Marshals are releasing details of a 30-day investigation in Cleveland.

A press release indicates that the U.S. Marshals from the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) successfully recovered critically missing children, with ten children being retrieved during the operation.

Investigators said ten fugitives wanted for sex crimes were arrested.

John Armstrong, 50, was wanted by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for rape of a juvenile and wanted by East Cleveland police for homicide.

Investigators said Armstrong was tracked to an apartment in Dayton and shot at officers when they arrived.

No officers were injured, according to a press release, and Armstrong was taken into custody.

Throughout the operation, investigators reported the arrest of over 130 violent fugitives, which included individuals wanted for serious crimes such as homicide, felony assault, and firearm-related offenses.

Investigators said Shon Turner was among those captured.

A 34-year-old individual was sought by the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department for allegedly pushing a 6-year-old out of a window, as noted in a press release.

The child was seriously hurt.

Investigators said they seized 11 firearms during the operation, two of which were reported stolen.
