Erling Haaland was left needing stitches in his face after a freak accident while away on international duty with Norway.

The 24-year-old Manchester City striker scored the lone goal in Norway’s 1-0 victory over Finland on Thursday and is gearing up to face Moldova in their upcoming World Cup qualifier. However, he’ll be sporting a new battle scar after an encounter with a bus door.

Haaland disclosed the mishap on Snapchat, posting a picture of a cut beneath his lip with the caption: “Just got banged out by a bus door. Three stitches.”

Norwegian outlet VG reported he was struck by a luggage door while exiting the team bus, though the injury is not considered serious.

Known for his humor, Haaland invited fans to offer “wrong answers only” on how it occurred. When one suggested that teammate Martin Ødegaard was to blame, the striker responded: “Correct.” He later joked that the cut “looked good.”

Norway is striving to qualify for their first World Cup since 1998, and with four wins in four games – coupled with Haaland scoring four goals in four matches – they appear to be on the right track.

And if the team’s star striker can survive a bus door, chances are he can handle whatever defenders try next.
