Convicted murderer escapes work detail in Hephzibah, police asks for public's help

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. () – Police are looking for a convicted murderer who escaped from a work detail.

Authorities in Richmond County have reported that 60-year-old Stacy Huggins failed to come back from his work assignment on September 4. His designated work location was noted as 4337 Wilson Road in Hephzibah.

Investigators say Huggins left his work site on foot in an unknown direction.

Huggins was residing at the Augusta Transitional Center (TC). In the facility, residents experience a structured environment and receive counseling along with help in securing and keeping outside jobs to facilitate their reintegration into society.

Huggins entered into the Georgia Department of Corrections in 1990 on a life sentence for murder in Fulton County, Georgia.

He was last seen in the Hephzibah area. If you’ve seen this man, please contact call 911.
