Authorities in Texas are actively searching for a black SUV driver accused of striking an 8-year-old child on a bicycle and fleeing the scene late last week.

According to Fox 4 Dallas, witnesses in the area informed Fort Worth police that the driver knew what transpired. Allegedly, he exited his car, glanced at the wounded boy, and then chose to drive off hastily.

The young victim, Liam Park, a third-grader, recounted to the news outlet that he was swept under the vehicle and momentarily lost sight after the collision. He suffered extensive abrasions and was immediately taken to the hospital, police reported to Fox News Digital on Wednesday. His mother conveyed that he experienced intense pain and was greatly traumatized, although medical staff declared he astonishingly avoided fractures and is on the path to recovery, as noted by the local news station.

“I went under,” Park informed Fox 4, describing the incident. “It’s really unkind of them to just drive away without checking if I’m okay, and now I have skin injuries — I’m hurt, and they need to be caught.”

The parents of Liam Parker, Baylea Christiansen and Kyle Parker, said their son is expected to recover from Friday's hit-and-run.

Parks father, Kyle, told the local station that watching his son suffer has been devastating.

“Every time I look at him, I mean, I put myself in his shoes and it hurts. It hurts every time,” the father said.

Despite the traumatic ordeal, the third-grader has been supported by friends and neighbors who frequently check on him, Fox 4 confirmed.

Police mentioned that details about the driver and the vehicle are scant. The Traffic Investigations Unit has been alerted and will spearhead the inquiry.
