CHICAGO (WLS) — On Wednesday, a fallen Chicago police officer will receive honors at the Gold Star Memorial.
Officer Krystal Rivera of the Chicago Police Department will have her name added to the memorial wall at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park.

In June, Officer Rivera was unintentionally shot by another officer.
Rivera’s name will be enshrined during a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Wednesday evening, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation plans to hold a candlelight vigil.
The names of 607 fallen Chicago police officers will be read.
Police say Rivera’s partner accidentally shot her as they were chasing a suspect in Chatham.
That officer has since been relieved of his police powers amid an assault investigation, CPD said.

He’s accused of punching a female off-duty officer.
But he claims that he was the victim in the alleged assault outside a Wicker Park bar last month.
