URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Eastern Illinois Foodbank is modifying its Foodmobile initiative in response to constrained resources during a period of “historic need.”
According to foodbank representatives, their team conducted a thorough assessment of the program to ensure effective hunger relief across the 21 counties served by the Eastern Illinois Foodbank.
“This review enabled us to make data-informed decisions, utilizing information like local food insecurity statistics and availability of local food sources, to establish a new schedule for Foodmobile distributions,” officials explained. “These adjustments will affect distribution sites, schedules, and the frequency of our routes established earlier this year.”
People can monitor the Foodmobile app for up-to-date information on distribution. They can also find food pantry locations by clicking here.
In addition, the EIF is introducing new food boxes that include highly requested grocery items, which come from feedback from the community.
