High-scoring Bethesda offense in midseason form

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Bethesda Academy football team is off to a 2-0 start for the third time in four years.

The Blazers’ offense has produced impressive numbers over the first two contests. Bethesda’s offense averages over 51 points a game.

Sophomore quarterback Jordan Turner has gained approximately 15 pounds of muscle, reported Head Coach Antwain Turner, crediting a solid offseason for this improvement.

Equally remarkable in the early season is Bethesda’s defense. In the opening week, they faced Hilton Head Christian, a team that employs a spread offense. The following week, they contended with a completely different style from John Paul II, who runs an option offense.

“Pressure on the quarterback is crucial,” stated Coach Turner. “However, when you do pressure the quarterback, he’s slippery. He can escape the pocket. We conceded 28 points, but most of it came in the second half as they pushed hard. Overall, our defense has performed admirably.”

“This season is really going great,” junior Ian Platts shared. “I’m thrilled that my teammates and I continue to work hard and steadily improve as the season progresses.”
