KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — Dr. Chris Metzger is returning to the Ballad Health CVA Heart Institute in Kingsport, according to Ballad Health.
In 2023, Metzger departed from Ballad to take on the role of system vascular chief at OhioHealth. His expertise lies in advanced coronary interventions, carotid stenting, endovascular procedures to address vascular diseases, clinical research, and teaching, as Ballad noted.
“I’m genuinely thrilled to reunite with my colleagues at Ballad Health and the Ballad Health CVA Heart Institute,” expressed Metzger. “My most recent position as system vascular chief at OhioHealth was incredibly fulfilling and broadened my perspective in academic medicine, while also reinforcing that the cardiovascular program we’ve developed and maintained in this region is unparalleled.”
Metzger said returning to the region “feels like coming home.”
“Ballad Health’s leadership has consistently demonstrated a commitment to prioritizing patient care, which was a crucial factor in my decision to return,” he commented. “The national healthcare environment is very demanding, and having practiced in other settings, it’s evident to me that Ballad Health has made the right choices for the right reasons to ensure access to top-tier care.”
According to Ballad, Metzger is accepting new patients at the CVA Heart Institute at 2050 Meadowview Parkway.
