Construction on hold at HL-GA Battery Company following immigration raid

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. () — Operations at the HL-GA Battery Company construction site have been paused due to an immigration raid that took place on September 4, 2025.

The site was specifically targeted in the immigration sting, as indicated by the search warrant secured by . Homeland Security reported the detention of 475 workers during the raid.

Officials with HL-GA told Friday that they are preparing for operation to resume, and production is scheduled to start in the first-half of 2026.

“The U.S. market holds significant importance for us, and we aim to have half of our total global battery cell production capacity here in the medium term,” a company spokesperson told . “LG Energy Solution remains dedicated to our initiatives in the U.S. and is striving to manage the situation in order to maintain essential investments and operations. Looking ahead, LG Energy Solution plans to work closely with both Korean and U.S. governments concerning the visa process.”
