Two days following the tragic death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was killed during a speaking event on a university campus, his podcast resumed with an empty chair as a tribute to him.
Andrew Kolvet, producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” hosted the episode on Friday, joined by Kirk’s friends Tyler Bowyer, Jack Posobiec, and Blake Neff. Kolvet mentioned that they had come together at Kirk’s studio for what he called a “sacred, solemn moment” dedicated to their colleague and friend.
Kirk, who founded the conservative organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on Wednesday at Utah Valley University during his “Prove Me Wrong: The American Comeback” speaking tour. A bullet struck his neck during the event.
Authorities identified the suspected shooter Friday as Tyler Robinson, 22, who was taken into custody, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said.
Kolvet noted that Kirk’s chair would be kept empty in the studio as a representation of his absence. “Nobody could ever hope to fill it,” he remarked. “But, by all of us together, we want to honor him, and we want to be more like him, and we want to be inspired by him.”
