'Adolescence' actor Owen Cooper is the youngest male to win an Emmy

Youngest Male Emmy Winner: Actor Owen Cooper Shines in ‘Adolescence’ Role

Actor Owen Cooper just made history at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday evening.

The 15-year-old clinched the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie for his performance in the Netflix series “Adolescence,” becoming the youngest male actor to achieve this honor.

“Honestly, when I began those drama classes a couple of years ago, I never imagined I’d end up in the United States, let alone here,” he expressed as he accepted the award. “I think tonight shows that by listening, focusing, and stepping out of your comfort zone, you can accomplish anything in life. I was practically unknown three years back, and look where I am now. Don’t worry about getting embarrassed; anything is possible.”

Cooper outshined Javier Bardem from “Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story,” “Presumed Innocent” actors Bill Camp and Peter Sarsgaard, Rob Delaney from “Dying For Sex,” and fellow “Adolescence” cast member Ashley Walters.

“Adolescence” is about a 13-year-old who is accused of murdering a classmate.
