Staff report

HAWTHORNE, Fla. – Kimon Marcus Miller, 36, has been arrested for raping a woman while threatening her with a gun.

A woman from a different county recounted meeting Miller in March and deciding to visit him on August 22 in Hawthorne. Upon her arrival, they watched television, and she made it clear she did not wish to engage in sexual activities with him.

The woman claimed that Miller then stood up, brandished a gun at his side, instilling fear in her that he might kill her. Out of fright, she consented to sex. Afterward, she pleaded with him to let her go and contact her mother, but he initially refused. When he eventually allowed her to leave, she hurriedly dressed but inadvertently left her underwear behind.

According to her, Miller instructed her to stop crying and behave as if nothing had occurred. He trailed her to her car, took a picture of her license plate, demanded her driver’s license, and photographed it. He then threatened to harm her and her family if she reported the incident, claiming his past fraud convictions enabled him to trace where people reside.

The woman managed to escape to a public area and called 911, where deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office met her and ensured her safe passage to a hospital for a sexual assault evaluation.

She provided a description of Miller’s home and the gun, mentioning her underwear would be found in his bedroom. Miller was subsequently arrested on August 23.

Charges against Miller include sexual battery with a deadly weapon and illegal firearm possession as a felon. He is on probation for several offenses in Georgia, such as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Although his arrest report lists his address in Hawthorne, the Department of Corrections verifies a permanent residency in Orlando.

Miller was last arrested on June 29 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting an officer without violence after deputies investigating an armed disturbance found a pistol next to his car. Miller has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting an officer without violence. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $52,500, and he was released on bail. Formal charges were filed in August.

The State Attorney’s office asked Judge James Colaw to hold Miller without bail until trial on the rape charge, and Judge Colaw agreed on August 29. Judge Colaw also set bail at $100,000 on the firearm possession charge.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
