FBI Director Kash Patel announced that investigators have linked the suspect in custody to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk through DNA evidence.

In an interview on Fox News, Patel explained that DNA from a towel wrapped around the suspected weapon used in the shooting matches that of Tyler Robinson, the person in custody.

Robinson was arrested after a two-day manhunt, and investigators say he is refusing to cooperate with them.

In addition to the towel, Patel said DNA found on a screwdriver on the rooftop of the building where the shooter was located matches Robinson.

The shooting occurred during Kirk’s speech at Utah Valley University last week. According to investigators, the shooter fired from a rooftop approximately 200 yards away before fleeing through a nearby neighborhood after jumping down from the building.

When questioned about the existence of a note by the shooter, Patel mentioned that a note found at Robinson’s home had been destroyed. However, investigators managed to extract evidence from it, revealing Robinson had planned the attack on Kirk.

Patel addressed criticisms concerning the initial investigation stages, during which law enforcement mistakenly detained and later released a person twice, indicating they were not involved in the incident.
