One person is deceased and six others, including five police officers, are injured following a gas leak in north-west Sydney.

Emergency services responded to a call about a gas leak at a restaurant on Garfield Road in Riverstone this morning.

One individual was confirmed dead on the scene. Five police officers and a civilian were transported to Blacktown Hospital in stable condition.

Upon the emergency services’ arrival, they found individuals in the building affected by the gas.

“Several people have been exposed to some type of gas,” Superintendent Adam Newberry stated.

“It appears that a number of individuals have been impacted by carbon monoxide poisoning.”

“This is a developing situation or emergency.”
