In Seattle, two teenagers asserted they were merely joking when they disturbed two women at night, wearing clown masks and brandishing guns.

The women stopped officers in the Bitter Lake area shortly after midnight and reported that they had been confronted by a duo dressed as clowns, according to Seattle Police. They mentioned one of the individuals appeared to have a gun while the other frequently adjusted his waistband, causing them to run away in fear.

As the officers conversed with the victims, they noticed a vehicle matching the description given by the women entering a nearby fast food restaurant parking area. Upon stopping the car, police discovered clown masks and large-capacity magazines inside. KIRO reported that two handguns were also recovered from the vehicle.

The two — identified only as a 19-year-old man and 17-year-old boy — were arrested on a harassment charge, police said.

The 19-year-old suspect admitted to the act, calling it a “prank” and even showed officers video footage of their actions. The terrified women had feared they were going to be kidnapped.

The older teen was held at the King County Jail, while the younger was sent to the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center. Authorities have not released their names.
