An unpublished and subsequently removed video from Meta showcased a new set of Ray-Ban branded smart glasses featuring a display and a wristband designed for control, as detailed by UploadVR. The clip additionally highlighted a novel pair of wraparound “Sphaera” Oakley smart glasses, equipped with a camera on the bridge. This suggests Meta might have unwittingly unveiled two significant announcements slated for its Connect event this week.

The glasses with a display are labeled with “Meta | Ray-Ban” and “Display,” suggesting they might be named Meta Ray-Ban Display. From a brief segment included in UploadVR’s article, it appears the actual display resides in the right lens. The video illustrates how these glasses enable actions such as querying Meta AI, viewing maps for navigation, translating signs, or using hand movements with the wristband to “write” a chat response.

Earlier this year, CNBC disclosed that the wristband accompanying Meta’s codenamed “Hypernova” glasses would utilize surface electromyography (sEMG) technology. This technology interprets signals from hand motions to facilitate device control, which seems to be demonstrated in the clip.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will conduct a Connect keynote at 8PM ET on Wednesday, during which these new glasses are expected to be formally introduced. The Verge will provide live coverage of the keynote.

Correction, September 15th: A previous version of this article speculated about translucent versions of the HSTN Oakley glasses, which are already available for purchase.
