Law enforcement in Maryland is searching for a 28-year-old woman suspected of murdering her elderly grandmother and severely injuring another family member on Sunday.
Officials from Prince George’s County Police have issued warrants for Breante Thomas, charging her with first- and second-degree murder for the stabbing death of 81-year-old Helen Thomas. She is also facing first- and second-degree attempted murder charges along with other related offenses, as reported by WJLA.
Authorities responded to a residence in Fort Washington shortly before 2 p.m. for a welfare check, where they discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds. She passed away at the scene. A male family member was also found with stab injuries, and he was transported to a nearby hospital where he remained in critical but stable condition as of Monday.
Thomas fled the home in a white 2012 Volkswagen Passat with Maryland tags 3FF3906.
Individuals with information regarding the suspect’s location are urged to call 911 and avoid confronting her. Additionally, people can contact a homicide unit detective at 301-516-2512.
