Thousands gather at University of South Carolina vigil for Charlie Kirk

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – On Monday night, the Turning Point USA group at the University of South Carolina organized a vigil and memorial service for their founder, Charlie Kirk, who was tragically killed on September 10.

The service was packed and filled with students, faculty, members of the community and children.

The evening started with a fully attended memorial event in a ballroom within the student union. Members from the Turning Point chapter delivered speeches, performed songs, and shared both laughter and tears to honor Kirk, whom they regarded as a mentor.

Attendees recounted personal anecdotes about the founder of Turning Point USA and expressed their commitment to carrying on his legacy and making him proud.

“Charlie Kirk would have never given up; he would have intensified his efforts and encouraged us to do the same. His battle is now our battle,” stated Dylan Baldassarre, a Field Representative at Turning Point USA.

The night ended with thousands of people joined together for a candlelight vigil in the exact same place Kirk visited USC in April.
