MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. – On Monday night, a 68-year-old man from Florida lost his life when a pickup truck, operated by a 16-year-old boy from Melbourne Beach, collided with his golf cart on State Road A1A in Brevard County, according to officials.

The fatal wreck happened around 9:30 p.m. on S.R. A1A near Normandy Place, south of Melbourne Beach.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a Floridana Beach man was driving southbound in his golf cart, with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado behind him.

A witness reported to the troopers that the golf cart had no lights on, and the impact from the front of the pickup truck caused the golf cart to flip over, as stated by the FHP.

Troopers said the 68-year-old was thrown off the golf cart and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FHP said the teen pickup driver was uninjured.

    An investigation is ongoing.
