ATLANTA () — During a groundbreaking event for a new Rivian plant on Tuesday, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp discussed the Sept. 4 operation by Homeland Security and ICE at the Hyundai plant in Ellabell, Georgia.

This operation led to the detention of 475 workers, with ICE describing it as the largest operation in the history of Homeland Security Investigation.

Most of the workers were reportedly South Korean nationals and have since returned to South Korea after being detained.

It was the first time Kemp publicly acknowledged the operation, and he responded to questions about other businesses’ future following the raid.

“I’m not going to be naive to the fact that they didn’t pay attention to what happened last week,” Kemp said.

When addressing future business pursuits in Georgia, Kemp stated, “We’ve had productive discussions with unnamed companies interested in establishing operations here. They are aware of the current situation and are also cognizant of the Visa issue.”
