Unanimous! Senate Passes Day of Remembrance Resolution for Charlie Kirk

Unanimous Approval! Senate Endorses Resolution to Honor Charlie Kirk Day

The United States Senate has officially recognized October 14th, 2025, as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk. This date marks his 32nd birthday. The resolution received unanimous support in a vote held on Thursday.

Fox News added some detail:

The resolution cited Kirk’s advocacy for free speech and faith, as well as him being a champion for individual liberty.

The resolution acknowledges Kirk for his unwavering advocacy of individual freedom, the value of open dialogue, civic involvement, and the safeguarding of constitutional principles.

The corresponding resolution in the House of Representatives, H. Res 727, has not yet passed the lower chamber.

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), one of the resolution’s proponents, writes:

During his 31 years, Charlie dedicated himself to improving our nation and, although his life was tragically cut short by political violence, his influence continues to resonate. He would encourage us to remain steadfast in our beliefs, engage in meaningful discussions, and persist with hope, resilience, and courage, seeking divine guidance. I’m honored to lead a resolution that pays tribute to Charlie’s contributions as an American patriot by designating October 14th, his would-be 32nd birthday, as the National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk—a day to unite, reflect, and honor Charlie’s legacy.

This resolution presents a compelling justification, noting that the observation is intended as a singular event rather than an annual occurrence.
