Texas State University in Austin, Texas confirmed that the person seen mimicking Charlie Kirk’s death in a video at a memorial on Monday is “no longer a student at TXST.”

This decision was made after the university stated on Tuesday that it would identify the individual in the “disturbing video that was taken at an event,” according to Texas State President Dr. Kelly Damphousse.

In a video posted on X on Monday, the alleged student was heard saying, “Charlie Kirk got hit in the neck b****.”

The university addressed the incident and mentioned that they are taking “immediate steps to identify the individual in the video.” They emphasized that behavior that “trivializes or promotes violence is reprehensible” and “violates the values of TXST.”

“If this individual is found to be affiliated with TXST, appropriate action will be taken,” the statement said.

In a later update on Tuesday, Damphousse posted on X that the university has identified the student from Monday’s event.

In the statement, Damphousse asserted that he will “not tolerate behavior that mocks, trivializes, or promotes violence on our campuses.” It was also clarified that the individual is no longer a student at Texas State.

Governor Greg Abbott reacted to the video on social media on Tuesday, urging the university to expel the individual who appeared to mock the conservative activist’s death.

“Hey Texas State. This conduct is not accepted at our schools. Expel this student immediately. Mocking assassination must have consequences,” Abbott stated in a post on X.

Kirk was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

This isn’t the first incident where a student mocked Kirk’s death during a memorial at a Texas university.

According to our sister station EverythingLubbock.com, a student who mocked Kirk’s death at Texas Tech University on Sept. 12  is “no longer enrolled.”

In the video that gained social media attention, the former Texas Tech student was heard saying, in part, “F*** your homie dead, he got shot in the head.”

Abbott also responded to that incident on X, and said, “This is what happened to the person who was mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination at Texas Tech. [F*** Around, Find Out.]”

The Texas Education Agency (TEA), which is the state agency responsible for public education, said on Monday that it had received 180 complaints against educators accused of making inappropriate social media posts or comments related to Kirk’s assassination.
