SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Very warm and humid conditions were with us Thursday along with a few showers.

A few inland locations made it into the lower 90s for afternoon highs. Similar conditions will be setting up for Friday and into the weekend.

Friday will kick off with predominantly clear skies, and temperatures ranging from the upper 60s to lower 70s. An onshore breeze is expected to increase the humidity in the area during the course of the day.

With highs topping out in the upper 80s to lower 90s, feels-like temperatures will be in the mid 90s for some locations.

In the afternoon to early evening, there may be some passing showers or storms, similar to Thursday. These showers and storms should diminish as the sun sets and the heat of the day fades.

The weekend looks ideal for outdoor plans, with both Saturday and Sunday offering a mix of clouds and sunshine. Afternoon temperatures will reach the mid-80s.

A few isolated showers or storms are possible. Rain chances will be 20% or less.

The new week begins with afternoon temperatures staying around the mid-80s, which is near average. However, there’s a slightly higher chance of rain on Monday and Tuesday compared to the weekend.

Passing showers and storms are expected.

Astronomical fall starts on Monday in the northern hemisphere. The autumnal equinox happens at 2:19 p.m., marking when the sun’s rays are directly over the equator, resulting in equal daylight and nighttime hours in both the northern and southern hemispheres.

TRACKING THE TROPICS

Tropical Storm Gabrielle has not gained any strength as of 5 p.m. Thursday. It has sustained wind of 50 mph and gusts as high as 65 mph.

Gabrielle is expected to weaken a bit as it moves northwest into a region with higher wind shear and dry air. Nonetheless, conditions are anticipated to support its restrengthening as it approaches Bermuda.

It is possible for Gabrielle to become a Cat. 2 system early next week as it pulls away from Bermuda to the northeast. There is no threat to the U.S. at this time.

The National Hurricane Center is watching a tropical wave that is about to move off of the west coast of Africa. This broad area of low pressure has a low (20%) chance of developing into a tropical depression or tropical storm over the next 5-7 days.

There is no threat to the U.S. at this time.
