Kamala Harris Slams Kimmel Cancelation; Told Twitter to Ban Trump in 2019

Former Vice President Kamala Harris criticized the Trump administration on Thursday regarding ABC’s cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel’s show — despite having previously called for President Trump to be banned from Twitter in 2019.

On Thursday, Harris posted on X:

As highlighted by Byron York from the Washington Examiner on Friday, Harris, who was then in a key position of authority, urged Twitter (now X) to censor the sitting President of the United States.

As CNN reported at the time:

Harris accused Trump of using his Twitter account to “target, harass, and attempt to reveal the identity of the whistleblower” whose allegations about Trump’s call with Ukraine’s leader led Democrats to start an impeachment inquiry.

“President Trump also sent a tweet that implies violence might occur if Congress proceeds with formal impeachment articles,” she said, pointing to a tweet by Trump on Sunday stating: “….If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal.” The tweet selectively quoted a supporter on Fox News.

In June, Twitter announced that while some tweets from world leaders violating its rules would not be removed if deemed “in the public interest,” the platform would instead label them with a disclaimer explaining that they broke company rules but remained accessible for the public’s benefit.

Following Jimmy Kimmel’s false implication that Charlie Kirk might have been murdered by a Trump supporter, Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr cautioned ABC that it could jeopardize its broadcast license under existing rules mandating that licenses serve the “public interest.”
