Driver extricated from car, hospitalized in Springfield crash

A motorist was rescued from her car, which had flipped onto its side, following a two-car collision in Springfield on Friday afternoon.

According to Springfield Police, they received a report around 3:39 p.m. regarding an accident that took place near the intersection of N MacArthur Blvd. and W. Madison St. A woman driving a black Dodge, heading north on MacArthur, ran a red light and was hit by a truck traveling east on Madison.

The Springfield Fire Fighters Local 37 were called to remove the driver from the Dodge, as the vehicle was on its side. The woman was safely extracted from the car and was sent to Springfield Memorial Hospital with injuries not deemed life-threatening.

Springfield Police said the scene has been cleared as of this time.
