UPDATE: Power restored to over 1,000 residents in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — CWLP has announced that the power has been restored to the nearly 1,200 people affected by a Saturday outage in Springfield.

In an updated Facebook post, CWLP reported power had been restored to all residents by 3:15 p.m. The cause of the power outage is currently undetermined.


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Crews from City Water, Light and Power are responding to a power outage that is impacting nearly 1,200 people in Springfield.

CWLP stated that the outage originates from a circuit at their Adlai Stevenson Drive substation. The affected areas include the Laketown area, Lake Victoria, Adloff Estates, and along Taylor Ave. from E Stanford Ave. to Adlai Stevenson Drive.

As of 1:53 p.m., CWLP’s outage map indicates that 1,181 people are affected by the outage. Once the issue is identified, crews plan to isolate the outage to smaller groups and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
