On Wednesday, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared on X that a MacBook Pro featuring an OLED touchscreen is anticipated to start mass production by the end of 2026. Today, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has followed up to emphasize that he initially reported on a touchscreen MacBook Pro as early as 2023. He verified that Kuo’s timeline is accurate. Since Gurman’s initial report, the planned release date has been adjusted from late 2025 to late 2026 or early 2027.
Apple has usually been hesitant about integrating the iPad and MacBook lines, and it’s unlikely they will do so entirely. However, Gurman notes that iPad sales have started to slow, and consumers now increasingly desire touch interfaces, even on laptops. This trend is partly driven by the fact that many Windows laptops now come with touchscreens as a standard feature. Consequently, Apple is under pressure to bring the two product lines closer together.
