Over 3,000 without power in Central Illinois

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Over 3,000 people are without power after storms rolled through Central Illinois.

As reported by Ameren Illinois’ outage map, currently in Rochester, 1,823 of their customers are experiencing a power outage. This disruption began around 7:30 p.m., and by 9 p.m. on Sunday, the cause was still under investigation by Ameren.

Elsewhere, in Macon County, 93 Ameren customers are also without electricity. These outages occurred around 8:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Jacksonville is experiencing outages affecting 275 people, with the areas mostly concentrated near Illinois College.

City Water, Light and Power crews are also responding to outages in Springfield Sunday evening.

The most significant outage affects over 800 customers. CWLP noted that this issue originates from a circuit connected to the Cornell substation, which stretches south of S Grand Ave between Whittier and Douglas.

Power restoration may occur soon for those near Ash Street and Livingston Street. Nonetheless, CWLP reported several other outages persist throughout the city, with crews actively working to resolve them.
