The FBI arrested the man accused of shooting at and into Sacramento’s ABC10 news station after he was released on bail, officials confirmed Monday.
FBI Director Kash Patel released a statement indicating that Anibal Hernandez Santana, aged 63, is currently held under federal charges for disrupting licensed broadcasts. U.S. Attorney Eric Grant further revealed that the suspect now faces charges of possessing and firing a firearm within a school zone, as well as disrupting a radio communication station. Jail records from Sacramento County show that Hernandez Santana was previously released on a $200,000 bail following his arrest.
“The FBI will pursue targeted acts of violence to the fullest extent of the law,” Patel wrote on X before calling the shooting “unacceptable.”
Officials conducted searches of Hernandez Santana’s possessions, residence, and vehicle. Among the items found was a weekly planner on his refrigerator, marked under “Friday” with a note saying, “Do the Next Scary Thing.” Another discovered note read: “For hiding Epstein & ignoring red flags. Do not support Patel, Bongino, & AG Pam Bondi. They’re next. – C.K. from above.”
There was a small protest outside the station on Thursday, according to The Sacramento Bee.
A report noted that about 15 individuals were gathered outside a building protesting ABC’s, a Disney-owned network, decision to take Jimmy Kimmel off the air due to remarks he made about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and his alleged killer.
Though Disney owns the ABC network, ABC10, an affiliate, is owned by Tegna. Nexstar Media Group is in the process of acquiring Tegna for $6.2 billion, as stated by Nexstar.

Disney announced on Monday that Kimmel’s show would return on Tuesday.
“We chose to pause the production of the show last Wednesday to prevent further escalation during a sensitive time for our nation. This decision was made due to the poorly timed and potentially insensitive remarks. After engaging in considerate discussions with Jimmy, we have decided that the show will return on Tuesday,” a Disney representative informed Fox News Digital.
In the wake of the shooting, there will be extra police patrols near ABC7 in San Francisco as a precaution, according to FOX San Francisco.
If found guilty, Hernandez Santana could face a maximum penalty of five years behind bars and a $250,000 fine for firearm violations within a school zone, plus up to one year in prison and a $10,000 fine for disrupting a radio communication station.
