A bus driver accused of causing the death of an 18-year-old pedestrian in a Brisbane CBD crash will fight the charges when he faces trial.

Lindsay Francis Selby, aged 70, is set to face charges related to a fatal March 2024 crash, accused of driving carelessly and causing the death of Tia Cameron.

The legal challenge is set down for a day-long hearing in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Police allege Selby was driving a bus that mounted the kerb during peak hour, pinning Cameron against a building in Brisbane.

Cameron had just left a nearby salon and, in horrifying scenes, was pinned against the Anzac Square Arcade building in the city centre.

The teenager died at the scene, while four bus passengers needed treatment for minor injuries.

Council bus driver Selby was charged months later following an investigation.

His case has since sparked emotional scenes in Queensland courts.

Police allege Lindsay Francis Selby, 70, was driving a bus that mounted the kerb after 5pm during peak hour, pinning pedestrian Tia Cameron against a building in the Brisbane CBD on March 8.

Selby was targeted by Cameron’s supporters when his matter appeared in court for the first time last June.

He was abused as he left the courtroom, with supporters shielding him as he exited.

The 70-year-old was insulted again as he left the building, with the teen victim’s supporters following him down the street.

In May, emotions ran high as Cameron’s loved ones became visibly upset when Selby’s attorney announced that his client intends to contest the charge, leading the case to go to trial.

Cameron’s supporters have attended court wearing T-shirts featuring the 18-year-old’s picture.
