Jason Hannon (Spring Township Police Department).
A man from Pennsylvania is accused of pinning a woman onto their bed, strangling her, and blocking her mouth with pajama pants, preventing her from breathing during a domestic violence incident.
Jason Lee Hannon, aged 44, is facing numerous charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, strangulation, and making terroristic threats, as stated by the Spring Township Police Department in a press release. After a passerby heard a woman yelling “help, help, help” and “get off me,” officers were called to a residence shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Monday, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime.
Upon arrival, police discovered a woman bleeding from her face, allegedly held captive by Hannon, who was wielding a knife. Though officers were able to rescue the woman, Hannon reportedly barricaded himself inside the home and inflicted a chest wound upon himself, as described in the affidavit. Authorities surrounded the house and attempted to persuade him to exit. Hannon eventually threw the knife out of a second-story window and exited the house around 9 a.m.
The victim told police she had been asleep when loud music from Hannon’s laptop woke her. When she went to unplug it downstairs, Hannon allegedly came up behind her and restrained her in a bear hug, as recounted by police. A struggle ensued, and the victim attempted to escape by running upstairs, but Hannon pursued her.
Hannon is accused of grabbing a knife and forcing the victim onto the bed. He allegedly shoved pajama pants into her mouth, restricting her ability to breathe, according to the complaint.
While waving the knife, Hannon allegedly said, “Look what you made me do,” “This is your fault,” and, “I’m going to kill you and then make you kill me.” The victim sought refuge in a closet but was reportedly attacked and threatened by Hannon again. After escaping the closet, Hannon allegedly tackled her to the floor, attempting to make her grab the knife and stab him, police reported.
The victim stood up and ran toward the back door, but Hannon allegedly stopped her. She thought about jumping out of a front window because she believed Hannon was going to kill her. It was at this point that the police arrived at the home.
Officers recovered bloody bed sheets and pajama pants, which were evidence of a struggle.
Police questioned Hannon, who allegedly admitted there was an altercation in the living room but claimed he “blacked out” during the rest of the ordeal. Hannon was taken to the Centre County Jail, where he is being held without bond. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 1.
