The Savant, an upcoming show from Apple TV Plus focusing on law enforcement’s efforts to prevent domestic terrorism, was originally set to debut this Friday. However, the streaming service has unexpectedly removed the series from its release schedule, leaving the new premiere date uncertain.

Adapted from Andrea Stanley’s 2019 Cosmopolitan article titled “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?”, The Savant features Jessica Chastain as Jodi Goodwin, an investigator infiltrating an online extremist group in the US planning a deadly terror strike. A trailer released last month showcases Chastain’s character as an expert in tracing snipers and potential bombers who plan to execute acts of “serious violence.” While she remains unclear about her latest target’s exact intentions, she is certain of his aim to “make a statement.”

Apple has not fully clarified the reason behind the unexpected delay in The Savant‘s premiere, but the company conveyed to Deadline that it intends to air the series at an unspecified future date.

“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant,” stated Apple. “We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.” (No additional comments were provided by Apple when further inquiries were made.)
